Very disappointing. Policymakers should really be more fluent on nuclear.

Erik, have you forwarded this to the British Government? If so (and you'll probably be ignored by Milliband's department), I'd recommend trying to make contact with Rupert Lowe of ReformUK. I think there is a not unreasonable probability this will get his attention, and he could at least raise it in Parliament and nake the issue more public.

Hi Jimbo,

No I haven't. I'm a fan of UK Reform and would be happy to advise them on this free of charge, but I don't have any contacts there nor do I have time to chase them down. They don't know me and wouldn't likely listen to what I have to say.

If you have their ear, by all means feel free to send them my way.

If UK really wants to get rid of this RGPu, I would absolutely LOVE to have the ear of Sec. Chris Wright to suggest that USA take it off their hands. It could be worth over $10bn as fuel, but they want to spend $3bn to dispose of it. Crazy!

Given their reason for wanting to dispose it is irrational/overblown proliferation fears, they would never sell it to anyone other than another Five Eyes gov't. The only Five Eyes gov't with leadership that understands why this is not 'waste' would be @SecretaryWright at U.S. DOE. I'd love everyone's help getting their attention!

It really is a very bad move but given what the UK has been like recently, this really is not a surprise to see that such a thing has happened!
